It's BACK, BABY!

The McRib is back!

Those size 34 jeans can kiss my ever-expanding ass.

It's true! It's true! It's back! It's slathered in BBQ sauce! It's delicious!

As I was making the turn into Canterbury Park yesterday morning I saw the sign at McDonalds. "The McRib is back" it said. I couldn't believe my eyes. I binked, I rubbed them both, and I and looked back again. It was TRUE! My beloved sandwich of yesteryear was back. I literally stared at my watch until it was lunchtime when I rushed over for the world's greatest sandwich.

Life is such a beautiful thing.

It's OCTOBER!

The Haunted Hochmans

We carved our pumpkins tonight.

I decided not to go for the vomit pumpkin this year, and no triangles for The Lizzard. We got the super spooky music CD on the outdoor speakers and a big-ass cauldron full of candy. THIS year I'm actually going to be in town over Halloween, so I'll get to see all the little goblins and stuff. Hopefully I'll get some photographs.

Kitchen Update

We FINALLY got the kitchen finished. My favorite part is this beautiful backsplash that goes across the whole counter, and on the little coffee island on the other side of the kitchen. The tile sat around here for several months before we finally got some help installing it (thanks Jeremy). I got a bit o' training and am now a confident tile master.

Now! On to the rest of the house!

We're REALLY close now

At the Scott County courthouse in Davenport, Iowa

As of today, the three-day waiting period expires and we're officially licensed to marry in the state of Iowa. The marriage license never expires so we're all set up for November. We also tied up some loose ends with the catering (I hope everyone likes brussels sprouts), went through four hours of marriage councelling with Nancy at St. Paul Lutheran Church, found an excellent source for the wedding cake, picked out the flowers for both the wedding and the reception, found a delicious Belgian Reuben sandwich, and had a super fun dinner with Rosita and Steve (soon-to-be Mom & Dad) while we were there. An excellent trip to Iowa, I'd say. That's right. Iowa.

I like Iowa.

Poker Words of Wisdom.

Another 2 weeks goes by without an entry from Hochboy.

If the threat of a corporate take-over didn't get him to start blogging again, I don't know what will.

In the meantime, I'll try a "Best of Hochman" series.

I was cleaning out my desk and found a notebook that Michael used to give me poker advice on a trip to Las Vegas in 2005.

So, without further ado, "Hochman's Poker Words of Wisdom"

1. "Neely Money will be mine!"

2. "Don't leave your camera bag at the poker table."

3. "When you're lucky enough to flop quads, bet out, turn them over without knowing about the 'High Hand' promo, discussing playing against Asian UNLV Finance students with (unreadable) without the nuts is meaningless."

4. "Unnecessary to ask Michael if he's bored - redundant - been discussed. - I love being @ poker table."

5. "Call Six - the moron raises to 9 - you fold. What the hell (WTF?)"
