Desert Noir - Journey's End.

Day 4 -

I've somehow lost a day. A clear sign that I've been too long in The Desert.

The Desert has aged me.
Michael, eternally youthful, denies it,
but I can see the truth in his worried glances.

"Just one more picture of my buddy Carl and me together!", Michael says with forced enthusiasm.
He doesn't think I'll make it back.

Vegas Noir - The Saga Continues.

DAY 2 -

The rain continued, as if the city was weeping in fear.

We have some smokes, we make a few calls, we own this town.

The Vegas Diaries ( Part of the Michael Noir Series )

Late_Arrival.jpg

DAY 1 -

Rain in the desert is always portentous. Whether good omen or ill, is less certain.

Michael's plane arrived at 11:07 P.M.

If the locals had known about his arrival, they might have used the last 53 minutes of Sunday to do a little extra praying.

Condo Blues

So after I had to close on the condo on December 22nd, I decided I'd become a slum lord and rent it for 15 years and then make the big fat money. I put ads on craigslist and even put an advert in the Minneapolis Star Tribune and had a few bites, but nobody who would actually rent the place. The $100.00 Star Tribune ad actually generated zero calls.

SO....

I decided to list the condo with Mr. N my real estate agent, and since it's been listed, they're crawling out of the &%*$ woodwork to RENT the place.

We'll see what happens in the next few days - I might just have to take the listing off the market and rent it - Go with the original plan.

There is something nice about not having to deal with it, however, even if it does cost me $7,000.00.

GUEST POST BY KEITH!!

HI!

Day two of the great road trip is in the books. I have driven over 1200 Miles. Right now I am in Tennessee visiting my hillbilly mother. Amadeus is safely in her cathouse. I hope he does well there. He was a great road companion and I will miss him.

My mom told me she did not have internet service. Only phone service. She is amazed that I have all the comforts of home with me. In fact I was able to lose $25 on Party Poker right in front of her eyes! I think the laptop is cursed. No winning session on it yet.

I am still doing well in general on PP. Back over 2k in the acct. Making 200 a day when I put some time in.

I love the area around TN, Georgia, South and North Carolina. I might want to settle here. It is just so majestic. I was surprised that all the major franchises were in Cookeville TN, Red Lobster, Outback, Macaroni Grill etc.

My next stop is Tunica MS to talk with Kenny Lambert and check out the Horseshoe.

On the rumor mill/job search: Dealing in Ireland in April. Tournament lead from Jason Seitz, I also heard of a place in Oklahoma where John Anderson and I might get highly paid floor jobs. John thought the job might worth 60K a year. This plus a low cost of living might be an option. He said rents were about $200/mo. We are also looking in a possible job in Vietnam. This I am very leery about. It sounds like a scam/too good to be true.

I hope to end up Santa Fe NM soon and check out the cities of gold. Then on to Arizona.

On day one of the trip I drove over 600 miles and ended up in Ann Arbor Michigan to talk with my brother. His life is taking a dive and it looks like he has a mid life crisis. I wouldn't know anything about this process. I did fill out health insurance forms and he said he will carry me on his company's plan. Though I will need Cobra for two months until it is settled. So really step one of being an independent contractor, Health Ins is being taken care of.

Hope all is well with everybody. Further updates coming.

Condominium

Owning two homes sux.

I've tried listing the condo for rent/sale on craigslist and had a few nibbles, but nobody willing to sign a purchase agreement or lease, so I'm about to officially list my condo for sale with my friend Mr. N, the real estate agent.

There goes 3-6% of my potential profit, but hell, some of that goes to a friend, right? So why not.

Plus I might get a big fat check (not as fat as it might have been, but still fat) and be able to go to Fiji or somewhere.

Speaking of fat - I'm heading out to the Y.

Friday Post

I'm so excited! Next week I get to go to my friend Olivias house. She has a huge house, and were going to camp out in the livingroom on the leather recliner couch with big bags of popcorn and watch movies on the 24 inch soround sound TV. Sounds fun, huh?
No,wait, I think it's bigger than 24 inches.

ONE MONTH!!!

I've completed an entire month of the YMCA and I'm happy to report that progress has indeed been made on my weight.

I'm now 3 pounds heavier than I was this time last month.

That's motivation for ya.

At this rate I can be up to 250 by Christmas!!!

What a JOY!

What FUN!

But - I can say this. I can do 45 minutes on the elliptical machine at 150 BPMs when a month ago I could barely do 10 minutes at 130. I guess THAT is progress.

And I need to post a picture. Here is one from 1999. This one's for the Norwegian Maverick.
