Stress

I've been finding myself stressed out recently. I didn't worry about it, the clinched jaw, the tight shoulders, but right now I'm in the middle of "Nurse Betty" and I'm finding it exceedingly depressing.

Somethin' ain't right.

And I'm going to Seattle, too. Actually - I plan to be in Portland on the 11th and in Seattle on the 12 or 13th. Those near Seattle, SNAPPY DRAGON DINNER on the 13th.

SHAMED!

My own neice has shamed me into posting on my own blog. I hang my head.

It's Tuesday, folks, and that can only mean one thing - Music.

Now that it is winter again, we have the lovely music of the Church of St Lous, King of France Casavant organ in St. Paul.

When I get home I'm going to re-post with some photos of the church and organ.

And then lunch at Mavericks.

Visitors!

Tomorrow Matthew comes to town! That means dinner at Howie G's. Howies is this amazing steakhouse where you get to pick your slab of beef from the cuts in the display case and even cook 'em if you like. I don't. If I wanted to do that I'd have stayed home.

I can't imagine going to a restaurant and cooking one's own meal, but plenty of people do it. I have the masterful chefs prepare mine. They also have the POTATO BAR where you can eat your weight in all kinds of potatoes. Mashed, baked, sweet, even Minnesota party potatoes. Those are the ones with cornflakes on the top. That's how we do things out here in Minnesota. We top our side dishes with breakfast cereal.

And if that wasn't enough, they put in a sushi bar in the middle of it. I love that kuz I can get nice, sticky Japanese rice with my steak. And plenty of it.

AND..... they allow cigar smoking in the bar area.

I would almost grant it Minneapolis institution status.

Not so bad!

No - I'm not rich.

No - They're not falling over themselves to buy or produce the program.

BUT.... having said that... the meeting went quite well. We've been given some direction and have PLENTY of work to do to get this thing produced.

It IS a viable product, but it's somewhat innovative, so it looks like we're going to have to get some branding/sponsorship to make it happen.

Anyone have an estra 1.3 million they wanna get rid of?

If I Can MAKE it HERE...

I can't believe from just talking about the project 3 months ago, I'm now sitting in the hotel room across the street from Santa Monica Blvd and Sepulveda where the Fox Network headquarters is with a completely edited DVD demo copy of Pokerbeat in my briefcase.

It was just two months ago I was leaving for Las Vegas to shoot the first scene.

Amazing.

I'm honestly wondering if John Kerry will get more sleep than me tonight.

Excitement has finally set in and I'm enjoying it.

We were invited to the (amazing) home of one of the player panel members to show the demo to a few (17) people who had helped with the production. It was the first time I actually watched the entire edited demo and thought, "Damn! That's pretty good". Everyone there seemed to enjoy it and seemed convinced that we had a good chance here.

Tomorrow is the big day to see if we make that chance a reality on our first 'at bat'.

I'll certainly post some kind of news in the next day or two.

Good Luck, Pokerbeat! And don't forget to vote!

Mile High Club

Sunday Morning, 8:42 AM and I would guess by the little map in the Sept/Oct 2004 issue of Sun Country Magazine that I’m probably directly over Montana. Nobody in Montana knows that. I have proven once again that sleep is impossible on a flight even when I get the entire row. Yup! I got the entire row! I’m spread all out like butter over all three seats.

They just handed me some kinda egg McMuffin thing. I removed the eggish part. It isn’t a McMuffin. It’s a McBiscuit. I forgot to bring Elizabeth treats on this flight, only a few Hershey’s Special Dark miniatures that I stole from the trick-or-treaters. And they got all melty.

Another hour and we’ll be landing in Las Vegas. Denny is supposed to pick us up, but before we get to the hotel he wants to show us his new house. Thanks for the ride, Denny, but I’m not looking forward to going anywhere after a 3 hour flight that began with a 5:00AM alarm clock going off other than to sleep or a big-ass buffet.

I joined audible.com for my first try at the audiobook thing. I found it difficult to pay attention, at least with the ipod. Maybe if I burn the stuff into a CD and listen on the way to/from work it’ll be better. I can’t recommend the McBiscuit.

I fear that once again I’ll be flying to Las Vegas without enjoying Habib’s. Yes. Habib’s is closed on Sunday. I guess Monday lunch – I could do that. I didn’t think about that.

Monday night at 7:00 is the cast/crew party at Mark Tenner’s media room in Las Vegas. That’s where we premiere the demo for those who have worked on it and for those we have lined up to work on it in the future if God smiles on us on Tuesday.

I guess 10:00PM or so on Monday night Annie & I are taking the rental and making the trek to Los Angeles, hopefully to arrive by 2:00 AM. Just enough time to get a little sleep, shower, shave, suit up and then go meet Mr. Mister at Fox Sports and give him first shot at making us rich. Let’s hope he makes a wise decision.

Maybe we’re over Colorado. It’d be cool if we were already over Utah.
