Here's what it looked like before we moved in.... isnt it quaint?

Notice that there is no counterspace. The top cabinets are only 10 inches from the base cabinets and that the wallpaper was so awful that Michael ripped it off the day he closed on the house.
So we decided to rip up the kitchen. Here's the first day of demolition.

This wasn't supposed to start for another week but I got so anxious Dad and I couldn't help ourselves. Naturally I would regret my lack of patience later when I didn't have a kitchen for 2 MONTHS!
After the tile got held up in customs in Italy somewhere for about a week we finally had a floor.
Still no walls of course as you can see by the ghetto-ness of this picture.
Dad and I wired new electrical boxes, hung sheet rock, mudded, sanded, and painted.
Finally it was time to put the cabinets in and move the stove and fridge from their location in the dining room to the kitchen! After several trips to IKEA for the right cabinets and missing parts, we also installed those.
Finally - we have this
And a pantry!
With food in it!
And a sink - a beautiful sink - that actually works!
As soon as the countertops are installed, I'll post the final pictures. Of course that won't be for (you guessed it) another 4 - 6 weeks.
Posted by The E at September 5, 2005 11:33 AMWhat happened to the pretty blue cabinets? ;-)
It looks great. Michael acted like he was doing all the work, but now we know the truth - it was the E.
Posted by: Estormino at September 6, 2005 09:00 AMSee how lovely the microwave fits in the space above the stove? that was ALL Michael.
He also signed all the credit card receipts. That part was the hardest.
Posted by: The E at September 6, 2005 10:42 AMI knew he had to be good for something.
