Holiday Wrap Up
My blog is broken. Not actually BROKEN though, just won't upload images, and I spent all this time creating beautiful images! So Michael gets to reap the benefits on his blog I guess.
This Holiday Season, I'm sure I tested the ability of the stove in the new house. I believe it handled itself ok, other than a few minor mishaps (i.e. who shut off the oven!?, the rice has been cooking for 10 minutes with no flame!, etc...).

Here's my take on this. Mine has Blackberry Preserves painstakingly made by Mennonites in South Dakota.

Judging from the picture you'd think these were sent down straight from heaven. My guess is that my step-father Steve would agree with you. These are just a simple chocolate cookie, crispy on the edges, chewy in the middle.

I think I make some form of these every year, just so I can SMELL them. To me, this is what Christmas should smell like. Well, this and pine trees. I got both this recipe and the chocolate one above here.

These are my invention based on the foundation of the first Austrian Shortbread I made. Michael said that the Blackberry ones reminded him of this other thing some poker player's wife made him back in the 50's (I can never resist an age jab).

These are for my brother and sister. No matter how complex and gourmet a cookie I make - they would much prefer the Peanut Blossom's recipe off the Hershey bag.

The story here is that my mom came to visit us and left her bananas in the car overnight. They froze (naturally) but when they thawed I just couldn't see them go to waste, so I made some banana bread. This wasn't Michael's favorite banana bread that I've made (he prefers plain and this has cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg) so I won't post it. Something that is notable however, is that no one should ever make Banana Bread without chocolate chips. To do otherwise would be blasphemy.

I know... there are no cookies here, only remnants of a cookie that once was. I have a good excuse and the blame solely lies on my husband. You see, I made these, and I thought they were awful. Too crumbly, too bland, too... eh. But Michael fell madly in the love with them and took them to work with him and that's the last I saw of them. Here's the recipe if you're curious as to what they look like.

And not a moment too soon! I have about 5-6 of these that I'll put up one at a time.
